Help replace In the Wings' items lost in the Marshall Fire

On December 30th, 2021 the Marshall Fire blazed through the small communities of Louisville and Superior Colorado destroying over 1,100 homes. One of the homes that was lost belonged to our Founder and Artistic Director, Fallon Voorheis-Mathews. Over 2 months have past since the fire but there is still a long road to rebuild what was lost.

While we are so grateful that a portion of our equipment was safe at our rental studio, however, several things were stored at Fallon's home. This included silks, trapeze, rigging equipment, our portable rig, and the entire costume closet.

We are so blessed to be part of such a generous community that has donated silks, slings, spansets, and given discounts on trapezes. We are so grateful for all of it! And we want to replace even more as Fallon and her husband need every penny to rebuild the home that was lost.

So we are releasing one virtual show every 2 weeks with all the donations going towards this cause. We will primarily be focusing on the costume closet so we can get back to performing live as soon as possible! Follow us to keep updated on future shows.

BITE & Other Bits

A Tale of Nightmares and Vampires

Good Evening, Mortals.

Welcome to a LIVE and virtual streaming performance celebrating vampire covens, nightmares, and strange things that roam in the night! We are dying to bring an original vampire story and other ghoulish tales to life on stage and hope you mortals attend.

What nightmare lies in the shadows? What strange creatures linger in the void? How can a human survive once they have felt a sweet vampire bite? In the Wings presents to you “Bite”, an original full length production filled with tantalizing aerial and ground dance that will leave you feeling haunted. We welcome you to come along on this captivating journey following a coven of vampires, where you will see terrifying drops, spooky choreography, and experience hair raising fangs! But fear not mere mortal, you may still live to see tomorrow.

Our vampires detest the taste of tainted blood, so please wear your mask to the performance regardless of vaccination status. This is subject to change based on current CDC and state guidelines.

For those of you, who would prefer to observe the safety of your home, we have a virtual option available. It will be live streamed for Saturday 25th at 7:00pm only. Ticket sales close at 6:30 sharp! You will be emailed a link shortly after 6:30 with a link to view the show. You will also have access to the recorded show to watch throughout October.

We hope you will join us either virtually or in person for this new Halloween production, a frightening dance in the shadows you simply can not miss! We so grateful for your continued support of the arts!

"The entire show was phenomenal!"

"My kids loved it! They watched it twice and danced along the whole time!"

"Beautiful performances, great musical choices, excellent videography"

"We wish we could have attended in person!"

“I loved it! It was so fresh and new and different and uplifting!! I was worried with it being COVID that it would be heavy but it was just joyful and fun and SPUNKY! That’s EVERYTHING I needed. I also loved how unique every single piece was. There is something so awesome when you add aerial and tricks to dance but it’s even greater when you have that kind of variety. There was ballet (pointe!), character, jazz, spoken word, contemporary ... EVERYTHING was there and it moved and transitioned beautifully. LOVED IT!!!”

Convergence 2020

In the Wings was honored to participate in Convergence for the second time and share the “stage” with 11 other amazing local companies. Two pieces were virtually performed, one from Let’s Dance… in a Mask! and one new work from our upcoming show, Rise. We hope this tradition continues next year in person!

Convergence 2020

Let’s Dance… in a Mask!

During the Coronavirus pandemic, performing artists were forced to adapt and perform in new, socially distant ways. Let’s Dance… in a Mask! was the first virtual performance for In the Wings. It featured two original works adapted for video and was sponsored by Colorado Mask Company. ITW masks are still available through their website!

Divine: A Celebration of Women

In the Wings produces an original full length show every season. Our debut production premiered on International Women’s Day 2019 and was titled Divine: A Celebration of Women. It featured an all female cast of 7 dancers and was hosted by the fabulous Alice Glamoure. Divine featured 11 new and original pieces that focused on the trials and triumphs that women face.

Duet Dances from the Heart

In the Wings was asked to perform for “Duet Dances from the Heart” in November of 2018 and happily obliged sending two dancers to The Marsh Studio in Darien, GA. The show consisted of  9 duets performed by artists from around the country and led by Artistic Director, Susan Murphy. It was a surreal experience in the swamp surrounded by a loving and supportive community. In the Wings cannot wait for another opportunity to perform or have a retreat at The Marsh.
